Monthly Savings Goal Calculator
Use your own goal, time window, starting savings, and rate assumption to estimate the monthly contribution required.
For educational purposes only. This calculator provides estimates, does not account for taxes, fees, inflation, or changes in rates, and is not financial advice.
THE PACE OF THE PLAN
See the goal arrive one month at a time.
Each marker assumes the same contribution at every month-end. It is a plan view—not a cash-flow forecast.

THE SHORT GUIDE
A goal gets clearer when it has a pace.
Name the amount and timing.
A target and a deadline turn a vague intention into an arithmetic question.
Use money already assigned to this goal.
Count only savings that are truly available. A balance needed for another near-term bill can make the plan look stronger than it is.
Compare the pace with real cash flow.
Adjust the goal, timing, or contribution when the plan no longer fits your income, spending, and bill timing.
SOURCES & METHOD
The method keeps the assumptions visible.
The calculator solves for the end-of-month contribution that, together with the current savings, reaches the goal at the stated annual rate compounded monthly.
When the annual rate is 0%, it uses the simpler calculation: (goal − current savings) ÷ months. If the starting balance is already enough to reach the target under the selected assumption, the result is $0.

- Results exclude inflation, tax, fees, changes in deposit rates, and market variability.
- An estimated rate is not an investment forecast or guarantee. Short-term goals may need liquidity and lower risk, depending on circumstances.
